Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Southside Market Sausage

Every day through January 1 we're giving away a crazy good food item on Serious Eats. Try your luck, and if you win, you'll be eating some seriously delicious food come the new year.

20071204southsidemarket.jpgWhen winter draws near, I start thinking about sausage. (Actually, I think about sausage year-round.) About the best, juiciest, meatiest, just-smoky-enough sausage I know is the sausage the Bracewell family makes and serves at their phenomenal Texas barbecue joint the Southside Market. The Bracewells are a generously spirited bunch, so they've given us ten pound packages of their incomparable sausage to give away as part of the Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway. Win and you can have your very own Texas barbecue sausage holiday party. Doesn't that sound good? Ed Levine

To enter: Tell us what your favorite barbecue joint is.

You have until 3 p.m. ET tomorrow (December 26) to enter. One winner will be chosen at random from among the commenters. Contest winners are limited to residents of the continental U.S., and you can only win once during the duration of the Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway contest. The standard Serious Eats contest rules apply.

Powdrell's Albuquerque N.M.

I got a lot of crap last time I said Redbones in Somerville, MA rather than Blue Ribbon. Here's my reason - I CAN DRINK AT REDBONES. There we go.

Hecky's in Evanston.

I'm a Redbones fan, too! Love the art on the walls, love the food, even if I just drink the lemonade!

Bullock's BBQ in Durham, NC

No BBQ joints around here (sadly), so I don't have a favorite.

My favorite if famous daves.

Smokin' Dick's in Seattle (a name that always elicits either a laugh or a sour look, but it's good for a reaction in any case). Reasonably priced and with huge portions, as it's in the U district, and with no sacrifice in quality compared to all but the most expensive spots in town. Couple that with a great atmosphere eating in or easy take-out and you've got a winner.

Our only BBQ around here is Killians and its only fair. I've been to Texas and loved it. Had some shipped home.

Pigs R Us in Martinsville, VA... it is my favorite and I've tried bbq all over the country.

No favorite, this is a small town, but I'd love to try these sausages.

Haven't tried enough places yet but so far, M&M Catering in Knoxville, TN.

Belmont BBQ (Charlottesville, VA) http://www.belmontbbq.com/

Well, with my family being from the Elgin area, I'm gonna' have to say Southside! We grew up calling the sausages "hot guts." For ribs, however, the very best are made by a southern transplant out on Cape Cod at a little roadside stand in Wellfleet.

Campbell's In Portland, Oregon

Saucy Q's Mobile, Al

I would love to take a trip to the South to try some REAL BBQ - so for now, my favorite is Arthur Bryant's.

I live in a BBQ-challenged part of Pennsylvania. I make do with Jambalaya Jay's Cajun place at the Fairgrounds Market, where they have great Cajun food and sometimes BBQ specials.

My favorite is when I make it at home. Second favorite, Dickeys Barbeque.

Bollocks, NC.

Russell Street BBQ

My friend Wiley's brisket. 24 hours. Oh yeah.

Not many places here in the Portland area but there is one nearby...

The Pit Stop on Canyon Road in Beaverton, OR. You'll know it by the race car out front and the checkered paint job on the pavement at the front entrance. Great BBQ and even better T-Bones can be had at this sports bar that boasts wall-to-wall TV viewing all relevant sports.

There's a tiny town nicknamed "The BBQ Capital of the USA" called Lockhart, TX. And in that little village is a magical BBQ joint named
Kreuz Market that was founded by a family in 1900. They use big
pieces of special spices to create the most delictible and delicious
BBQ ribs, sausage, brisket and pork chops you have ever tasted!!
Since we no longer live in TX, we have family that sends us special
care packages of Kreuz Market BBQ every Christmas!! Thank you

My all time favorite place to have BBQ, besides my home, was the BBQ PIT in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Sadly it has been gone for many years! So coming in 2nd place is Rib City in Naples & Venice, FL.
When we moved to Western North Carolina, we thought we would be in the land of great BBQ. Sadly our dreams were quickly crushed and we are going through withdrawls! Needing a BBQ fix QUICK!

The only BBQ place we have around here is Famous Dave's--so it's either that or my back yard.
