Are Artichoke Basille's Sicilian Slices Shrinking?
I'd assume they are using the same pans as always... If i can remember correctly, they used to get eight slices out of the pan. Cut in half length wise and then three cuts horizontal.
I assume they're still using the same pan which means to be smaller, they'd have to be making one additional cut... this may require some on-site investigation skills...

Eating Out Alone in New York
Waterfront Ale House and Molly's. Apparently I like to eat burgers and drink beer alone
Pizza Hut Releases New Stuffed-Crust Pan Pizza
Whats next, cheese stuffed pepperoni? A cheese pan
I'd have to imagine that pretty soon, they're gonna run out of places to shove more cheese.
Papa John Gets Camaro Back; Chain Offers Free Pizza to Camaro Owners Today
Free pizza for Camaro owners? That should make the entire state of NJ very happy.
Taste Test: Greek Yogurt
I usually go Fage 2% with the little side cup of honey. Never need more than half of the honey to polish it off though.
Are Pickles a Burger Condiment?
Pickle is not a condiment. I'd say, if you eat it on its own, its not a condiment. No sane person is eating relish or ketchup but they'd eat pickles
Whole Foods CEO Criticizes Health Care, Some Shoppers Boycott
Gotta love the hypocrate bleeding hearts... You aren't allowed to voice an opinion that is contrary to mine. They are trying to turn this country into that beacon of democracy in Venezuela.
This Week's Poll Results
Just ordered Totonnos last night (sadly from the one on 26th and 2nd) and plowed through 4 slices.
Momofuku Ssam Lunch Prix Fixe: Still A Great Deal, Now With More Choice
Had this last week. Went with Pork Buns, spicy rice cakes and the ice cream pie. First off, its a crazy amount of food. Second, I surprisingly loved the ice cream pie. the corn ice cream was fantastic
Market Scene: The Absolute Best of Union Square Greenmarket
Hooligan cheese from Cato Corner.
Slice Poll: How Many Slices Do You Eat?
Normal order is 3 slices. If i get a whole pie, my normal dinner is four slices. If I'm at Totonnos in Coney Island, make that six.
Cook the Book: Burger and Fries
@mschlock - you gave me a great idea... a burger with two potato latkes instead of buns. The best of both worlds.
Breakfast of Champions: Homemade Corned Beef Hash at Stage Restaurant
I'll have to try. My standby has been Sarge's. A bit more money but really good. They let it get nice and crispy.
'The Best Thing I Ever Ate' Pizza Episode
Fact of the matter is Aaron Sanchez should be disbarred (or whatever is the right word) from the food community. he's a disgrace. Max Brenners disgusting looking bread topped with chocolate and marshmallows? Seriously?
City Flavor Guide: Cincinnati
I spent about a month in Cincinnati for work a few years ago. First time I went to Skyline, I thought it was mediocre and didn't get it. Then I went a second time and it wasn't bad. After the third time I was hooked. It grows on you. Also remember the commericals instructing you how to eat it. Cut into pieces rather than swirl it around a fork.
A three way with hot sauce and crumbled oyster crackers on top. That is a fine lunch
Also really enjoyed Daveeds a few times when I was there.
Is It a 'Plain' Slice, a 'Regular' Slice, or Something Else Entirely?
When i go to my standard slice joint, I just say "two to go". Only if I want a sicilian slice will I specify. Other places I'll say either "two plain" or "two slices". I never used regular and i would never say "a plain slice", seems redundant to me.
Pizzeria Boom Actually Harming New York Pizza as We Know It, Newsweek Says
Its a strange article when talking about the possible death of slice joints and then highlighting a huge line at Artichoke for.... slices. It may not be as "exquisite" as Company or Keste but not everyone wants to go to a sit down restaurant or will pay $13 for an individual pizza, regardless of whether or not the mozzarella di bufala is imported from naples daily.
If anything, people should be excited that a slice joint like Artichoke could thrive and that it would hopefully compel others to open similar slice joints that deviate from the ubiquitous generic Famous Ray's type slice.
The Most Beautiful Baked Good: Cookie Cake Pie
I would've blind baked the pie crust, and the cookie dough... Probably would've been better to make a carvel-type ice cream cake on top, rather than a real cake too. Too dense this way. Buttery pie crust, topped with buttery chocolate chip cookie, topped with carvel ice cream cake with the crunchies!!! Through in cookie puss's ice cream cone nose, and you got a winner.
The Big McFatty Melt
@engmcmuffin - Touche....I'm gonna have to think about this...
The Big McFatty Melt
I would've replaced the middle grilled cheese with just a single piece of bread, buttered and grilled on both sides, no cheese. That would be proper balance and be a real Big McFatty Melt.. .the way it is constructed now, would be like a Big Mac having a fully bun in the middle.
The Kitchn on How to Build a Better Burger
Way too complicated and busy. Mine is...
Soft top bun, toasted
Dime size dab of ketchup or El Yucateco hot sauce
Melted cheese, preferably American
Burger
Soft bottom bun, toasted
