I'm not sure why I thought this but when Gene was shopping for ingredients and he was at the counter asking what the rice dish or some grain was, I thought it was a pre-made dish and then that was the dish that Padma loved. I wasn't looking for a cheater but I really thought that's what happened and that any minute they were going to drop a Top Chef bomb on ep. 1.

Then Stefan thinks it would be great for someone other than an American to win. I think I am still recovering from the 2 year long election or something, because Stefan's comment bothered me a tad.
I hope Jersey isn't defeated by her own insecurity and lack of confidence because I heard some wonderful things about her restaurant.

I had a 4th of July filled with SoCo and Lime shots where I proceeded to have a Pastrami sandwich, and then hurl off a balcony showering my friends. Needless to say, I am not a regular at Katz's.
Last year my friend got a round of shots and without thinking I drank it without asking what it was first. The Second the soco and lime hit my lips I spit it out all over my brother and downed the first drink I could grab.

I was in the hospital for a fairly long stay 2 years ago in Paris near my university, and I was frighteningly ill. My boyfriend at the time called my mom and asked her all the meals my grandma used to make for me as a kid (my gram and I were very close and she died 2 years prior). He flew to Paris, met my parents and my friend and went to my apt to cook.
I was in and out of consciousness ut I remember waking up to Bob Seger's Night Moves (i'm a huge classic rock fan and I it is one of my faves) and the smells of gram's Fusilli and meatballs, baked macaroni, frankfurters and eggs and a slice of cheesecake. They were all tasting portions bc I was in no shape to eat, but I forced myself and it will always be the greatest meal of my life because it probably helped save me.

My mom was sobbing and my hard ass dad, I could tell, was pleased and at ease that someone could take care of his little girl if she would only let them. Mind you, my bf drank beer and te blocks of vermont cheddar cheese and kosher dill pickles, a real guy's guy, so this was...well it was something i'll never in life expect to happen again, but it was the most amazing experience that I lived to tell!
