So, What Did You Make?
We went to Pizza Hut. Seriously.
Apples: Take 'Em or Leave 'Em?
I love the way apples taste, but alas, I'm allergic. I rather enjoy breathing, so no apples for me. It makes me sad, but I've learned to live without.
What's on your "Bucket List"?
My bucket list place is Ireland, but I need to find a new one after next week. My husband and I are going for 8 days! Yay!

PB&J or Grilled Cheese?
Grilled cheese without a doubt. I could definitely live without peanut butter and jelly in sandwich form. Peanut butter and jelly as separate items? No, but defiitely in sandwich form. I seriously love grilled cheese.
What to do with Raspberries?
Macerate them with raspberry flavored vodka and a little sugar and serve it over pound cake. The raspberries soak up a lot of alcohol, and they taste so good. We've done it with strawberries and strawberry flavored vodka. Oh, and don't forget the homemade whipped cream!
Care Package for Marine Boyfriend / Contemplation of Meltiness
We send my brother beef jerkey, slim jims, lemonheads(his very favorite candy), gum, powdered gatorade(he asked for it so he could share it with his soldiers), trail mix...basically, as long as it wasn't chocolate or dangerous type items(glass bottles) it was good. Also, if he makes a special request, I go out of my way to get it or let it be known that he wants it, as some things are hard to get even in the commissary in Germany. Another thing we send frequently is the Crystal Light On The Go packets that you can put in bottled water or even in the camelback bags. They make a lot of good flavors and different types. He likes the Immunity(Cherry Pommegranite), the Energy(Wild Strawberry), the lemonade and the green tea. I'm going to send him the Hydration(Berry Splash) one to see how he likes it.
Great cream cheese mix-ins...
I love cream cheese mixed with chocolate chips, a little vanilla extract and some powdered sugar. Form into a ball and let it set up a little bit in the fridge, and you've got a dessert cheese ball that is delicious with graham cracker sticks.
Skippy or Jif? (Thanks Bessfour!)
We always had Peter Pan growning up. My dad used to love (and still eats on occasion) waffles or pancakes smothered in chunky Peter Pan and syrup. I prefer chunky peanut butter too, but now that I'm older, I really don't care about the brand.
I embarrass my husband with my restaurant ordering habits
I lucked out in the husband department. I'm extremely picky with my food and have been brought to tears by an extremely mean waiter. The hubby and I were engaged at this point, and we went to a Mexican place for my birthday. I requested a cheese quesadilla with nothing else but a side of sour cream (I'm vegetarian). Not too hard, right? Wrong. The first time it had all the chicken and veggies in it. The second time it had chicken and lettuce, and the third time it had chicken only. I was getting more and more angry and started to cry. I only cry when I'm extremely angry, and he pushed me to it. The waiter then proceded to ask my husband what the heck was wrong with me and how he could stand being with somebody who was so picky, and that I should grow a pair and stop crying. Well, that was enough. We got the manager over and explained what I wanted, what happened to the food each time and what the waiter said. We got our entire meal comped. My husband knows that I'm very picky with my food, and he still loves me. He may make fun of me in a joking manner, but he's never serious. I wouldn't be married to someone belittled my food preferences, but that's just me. He obviously has some good qualties or you wouldn't be with him. Just talk to him about it, and don't be afraid to tell the food workers that you want more lettuce. After all, you are paying for the food.
The End Is Near: 600 Starbucks Stores Will Close
Europe has Starbucks as well. Where I live in Germany there aren't any in my town, but drive 15-20 minutes either way and you can find them. At least in Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Heidelberg. I much prefer going to a local cafe though. It's like Lewis Black says...
"If you walk to the end of the block, there sits a Starbucks. And directly across the street -- in the exact same building as that Starbucks -- there is... another Starbucks. There is a Starbucks across the street from a Starbucks! And ladies and gentlemen, THAT is the end of the universe."
11 Foods Serious Eaters Should Be Eating
Unfortunately the only food I really, really like on this list is pomegranate juice. I like it with vodka.
Cook the Book: 'Margaritas, Mojitos & More'
I have a weakness for limes. They are little bits of tangy deliciousness. I don't even need an alcoholic drink to put them in.
If allowed only one - Salt or Pepper - What would you choose?
Without a doubt, salt. I love to put it on watermelon and cantelope. It just makes it taste so much sweeter. I may look more like my mother, but i am proud to have inherited my father's love of salt.
What foods are uniquely '80s'?
Oh, oh i know...Tab. The most disgusting "beveridge" ever created.
What's your favorite fried food?
Definitely onion rings and cheese sticks...oh yes, heart attack waiting to happen, I know, but I like living dangerously.
Name 5 THINGS ALWAYS in Your FRIDGE!
Milk (skim and 2%)
Various Cheeses
Butter
Bottled Water
Grape Juice
Eats for a Sunburned Moron?
I always liked eating ice pops when I got sunburned. As far as the remedies, mix 1 cup skim milk, 4 cups cool water, and some ice cubes and dip a cloth in it. Cold compress = awesome. Also, a cool (not freezing cold) bath with half a cup of cooked oatmeal can help relieve the itching. If you don't like the oatmeal idea, you can add baking soda to a bath of tepid water, but instead of towling it off at the end, let it dry on you. Hope this helps!
Haagen-Dazs or Ben & Jerry's ?
Ben & Jerry's Phish Food is the only ice cream product that I would send my husband out at midnight to go get me more of. Well, before we were living in Germany, that is.
Food Allergies
Apples. Fruit, juice...the whole thing. Disappointing, I know. But it's pretty easy to avoid.
Kill Them with Kindness?
I can't think of a good reason that my worst enemy would be at my house, but I probably wouldn't invite her into my house to begin with because I'd be terrified that she'd un-hinge her jaws and swallow me whole! I am a failure at being diplomatic.
What are you known for?
1. Irish Spaghetti
2. Cajun Shrimp
3. Rice Krispy Treats
A Lesson for Omnivores: Vegetarian Myths, Debunked
I've been vegetarian since I was 2. I got violently ill and ended up in the hospital with dehydration 3 times. The first time, my parents thought they had undercooked something and gave me food poisoning. After the third time, they told me I didn't have to eat anything I didn't want to. I haven't purposefully had meat since then. I'm not vegan...I would die without butter and cheese. When my husband and I were dating, he and one of my friends slipped a small piece of chicken into something I was eating when I was out of the room. I immedietely got sick. Yeah, I still married him. I hate that people willfully try to sneak meat into my food. I respect your decison to eat meat. It shouldn't be that hard for you to respect my decision not to.
