Cook the Book: 'Osteria'

I make a turkey/pumpkin chili which is my favorite hearty winter comfort food.

However the food I make at the first snowfall (and frequently thereafter all winter) is home-made chocolate chip cookies. I know that's a dessert, but it comforts me tremendously. As soon as the weather gets cold I need to make cookies and have warm cookies and milk.

Cholent is one of my favorite things, but haven't yet found a recipe that will equal the version I had on a moshav in Israel.

Also love home made gefilte fish.

I make several of her Christmas cookie recipes every year -- this year included Black Forest Cookies which were amazing. I subscribe to Everyday Food and make about one recipe from every other issue - very few have been failures.
