restaurants for groups on UES
wu liang ye is on 86th between 2nd and 3rd and is pretty good chinese, it is sit down and is definitely better than any take out in the area. they are known for their szechuan food although i have never had that, just the americanized staples. it isn't as good as what you will get in other parts of the city though, i'm sure.
Iron Chef Party
my friends and i did this a few times. battle eggplant was really good and easy to start out with, plus it allows for lots of vegetarian items.

Best food for a stomach ache?
ginger ale, toast, scrambled eggs if you think you can stomach them. the most important thing is breaking the no food barrier, after that you will be fine. also even though it is disgusting, gatorade will make you feel better.
Cook the Book: 'Dishing Up Vermont'
upstate new york has amazing apples, cheese, maple syrup, and half moon cookies (which are more delicious than black and whites)
Bazbeaux Pizza: Indy's Best is Just Eauxkay
they cut pizza into squares in upstate new york too, actually pizza that looks remarkably like that one.
IDEAS? quick, CHEAP, healthy item for a lunch potluck
peanut noodles are a really good and cheap option, because they can be served cold and you can fill it out with pasta. there are lots of recipes online but we like to make a peanut sauce with natural peanut butter, soy, sriracha, garlic, rice wine vinegar, and then mix it with noodles (either rice noodles or whole wheat pasta). add whatever vegetables are in the house, we like cucumber and peppers.
Cook the Book: 'What We Eat When We Eat Alone'
mac and cheese with hot dogs and peas in it or fried eggs and cheese, with pita dipped in olive oil and za'atar
mayonnaise premade
I just saw olive oil mayo from hellmans in the grocery store yesterday, might be worth a try?
Who's Made Momofuku Bo Ssam at Home?

sushi bar near rockefeller center?
what is your price range? the cheapest and closest to rockefeller center is Taki Sushi on 48th between 5th and 6th. it can get pretty quiet at night though.
Sunday night dinner for a medium-sized group
what about otto? there is plenty of room for a pretty large group, you can make reservations, and the food is easily shared. there are a lot of good vegetarian options as well, but fun delicious things for meat eaters.
Paying for someone else's party?
It sounds like they are viewing this as a hyper pre-planned dinner party where everyone would split it rather than a hosted event. I would find out the specifics of the party, and make sure that the $40 covers everything including drinks, but obviously go anyway. If you went to dinner with your husband instead of going to the party, you would probably spend more, and it is not worth upsetting your friend. That being said, I have turned down invitations to birthday dinners where people chose an expensive restaurant and I knew I couldn't afford it.
Money Saving Tips On Food
I think the best way to save money on food is to plan ahead very carefully. While it can be constraining, it is much more economical to plan meals, buy what you need for those meals, and stick to them rather than buying lots of things that end up getting thrown away. Also, living in new york, i don't know if this is the case in minneapolis, we have found that trader joe's is a life-saver. We buy five pounds of frozen chicken for $7.99 which lasts for a few weeks. While there are definitely some things that are expensive, if you seek out the deals there you can do really well. We spend about $50 a week on groceries for four adults, so that is not bad at all.
Birthday dinner - romantic, excellent food, budget-ish?
beyoglu on the upper east side is really romantic, although probably out of your way. the food is turkish mezzes and really good, great for sharing obviously.
Needed: a meal that would win a man's heart!
for what it is worth, my boyfriend won me over with his favorite meal that he made for me on our first date. it was chicken with thyme in a white wine butter sauce and mashed potatoes. the meal was very simple but i loved that he cooked for me and that he showed me something he really loves.
Need Good Brunch Venue on Upper East Side...
If you want something really nice and pretty with good food, Sarabeth's is always a good option. Cafe D'Alsace is also delicious and pretty affordable. If you have a big group, Eli's Vinegar Factory on 91st and and York is good if a bit expensive, but they have plenty of space and definitely accomodate special occasions well.

fransk hot dogs in denmark, so delicious!
Cook the Book: 'Endangered Recipes' by Lari Robling
eating peanut butter on a spoon with my best friend at our babysitter's house, there is something about the peanut butter and the metal and being on the swings.
In Dire Need of Picnic Brunch Options!
what about tortilla espanola, it is simple potatoes, onions and eggs and I am sure you can find a good recipe online. it is wonderful room temperature even though it doesn't seem like it would be. bring along some piquillo peppers and manchego cheese and it would be amazing.
Recs for Upper West Side eats?
there are a bunch of ed levine reviews of places on the upper west side, so that would be a good place to start.
Good cheap dinner near Lincoln Center?
you could go to casellula, on 52nd which is a great wine bar and you will definitely be there early enough to probably avoid a crowd
