Do Singles Bars Exist in NYC?

Thanks all - I'm not looking for a "mate" or even a serious boyfriend. What I would am seeking to find is a bar out there, where I can go, have a drink/dinner, and be able to hold a conversation with someone without it automatically leading to a drunken fest (slight exaggeration, but just to emphasize my point).

How about Uncle Nick's in Hell's Kitchen? Really good, authentic Greek food - wide selection of small plates and entrees. Order their huge Greek salad for the table, a couple of mezzes for sharing, and also a great selection of wines.

I never had my wisdom teeth taken out so I don't know if this would work but how about lentils (esp. red ones - they turn to mush if you cook them long enough)?

Or you could make a vegetable or fruit soup - served either chilled or hot?

Not too many people know, but there is a French restaurant in/attached to the Port Authority called Metro Marche. Otherwise, Blue Fin in Times Square W Hotel or Re Sette.
