Cook the Book: 'The Barcelona Cookbook'
3 days in san sebastian..it really was like a kid in a candy store. we ate dozens of croquettas, anchovies, octopus, seranos, ibericos, fois with lingenberry jam, and the list goes on. there's a tapas bar every ten feet, and everyone welcomes you with a smile and glass of txakoli. the best day was the one with a sardine festival in the town square!
Has anyone found a replacement for Le Miu??
le miu was awesome, by far the best sushi joint in this city! it was the most upsetting closing of all the new york city closings! please post updates if anyone hears of that guy opening a new space!
Served: The Perfect Waiter Job
I've worked in both pooled houses and non-pooled houses, and I definitely prefer pooled houses. And not because I'm a lazy ass, but because the competition and inequity get in the way of a guest enjoying himself. Of course in a pooled house, one should expect to be fired or yanked by his short and curlies if he doesn't pull his weight! There are many times when one server is free to help another, and in a pooled house she is motivated to do so. A pooled house is ONE ingredient in a well-run place. Excellent product, exceptional staff, and great management are necessary as well, of course.

i had just moved to ny and lived right by curry row on second ave. we went into the tiny restaurant with all the hanging red christmas lights. after easting some fried apps and some breads the lamb vindaloo came, which i ordered extra spicy...it blew my head off and i was hooked!
