LaRosa's: A Tradition Cincinnatians Should Not Be Proud Of

I can only remember eating a La Rosa's pizza at King's Island, and that was La Rosa's recipe (what the different is, I have no clue...)

It works as something to eat at the amusement park.

If I'm in Cinci wanting pizza, I go for Donato's, which is still technically a factory/chain pizza, but tastes so much better. But then, I could get Donato's in Columbus (when I lived there, which also meant more time in Cinci!).

Now when my wife graduated college, we were eating at a bunch of German restaurants that I know I can't remember (I'm sure she still does...), and those were absolute heaven.

Last time I was in the area (CVG), I had the choice of Gold Star or Max and Erma's. I went to M&Es for the burger and tortilla soup for my craving, my wife had Gold Star, which was good for getting that craving fixed for her. We don't get back up north often enough.

Breakfast Burritos in California

Snort. And I thought Californians ate healthy!

But I have eaten at La Bamba in Columbus where the burritos are as big as your head. But they have no breakfast burritos.

How Far Does Restaurant Loyalty Go?

If I were to do that (one strike you're out), I would have stopped eating at fried chicken places (KFC by brand, and I probably wouldn't have stopped at by brand either if I had) years ago. I've only been that sick 25 years ago (25!?!?!) when my dad rescued me from my apartment after I didn't show for our weekly dinner/clothes washing schedule.

I just can't believe it's been that long. That's a half a lifetime for me at this point. And now I'm missing Dad!

Who Should Pay at a Birthday Dinner?

Now that I'm married, I'm the one who primarily pays for birthday meals, mine, my wife's, my step kids'. Although technically my wife is the bread maker, so I guess she's actually the one paying regardless.

In my single days, dinner was with a friend, and as bachelor bulls, we could afford going to Ruth's Chris Steak House (although one year my best friend did take me to Morton's, which was much more about the show than it was just eating good food), so he would take me out on my birthday, and I'd take him out the next month on his birthday. And it would always confuse them, because the name of the reservation is the person who usually is paying for the meal.

Birthday lunches either got split by the others, or handled by that person's boss.

Top 10 Celebrity Chef Earners: Who Isn't on the List?

I think RR would be the first person to claim that she isn't a chef. She doesn't bake, which I know she's professed several times. She knows how to put meals together.

I would think that Emeril is up there. He sold pretty much everything but his restaurants to Martha Stewart IIRC recently.

In Videos: Cell Phones Pop Popcorn Kernels

You know, microwaves operate at 2.4ghz (approx the same as wifi) That's not really that close to the what cell phones operate at. And with a wattage of up to 1/10 of a watt (that is the max) compared to the 700-1200 watts of a microwave, it's pretty obvious that it is a fake.

Airline Food Waste and Excessive Packaging

Well, the last time I flew was International, and while I remember getting two meals on the flight to, the flight back only had one meal (IIRC).

My wife just left for South Africa. That's a 16 hour flight (no getting off the plane at the halfway mark, due to security you know) without any way of keeping anything cold, or getting it hot? Yeah, I think meals on international flights (which seem to be the only flights nowadays that has real food, and bad as they are, even in first/business class) are pretty much necessary.

And if you wanted to really be eco-friendly, you shouldn't be flying to start with.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Bacon of the Month Club

Crisp. The whole family is split actually. 3 want it limp, and 3 want it crisp. And because I'll cook it to order (1/2 and 1/2), I get kudos for it. Which is better than the ex, who cooked it limp always.
