Metromix *just* put up their list of top sports bars.

The ones I know on that list are all good ones, so I think you're safe trusting the rest. I'm also a fan of Stout, if you're close by. Lots of TVs, pretty decent food.

AHT Poll: What Cheese Do You Like Most on Your Burger?

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to make a hamburger cheese. Something that has the low melting point of American, but with a bit more flavor. That would be a worthy cause.

Mr. Kuban, you definitely have a way with words. Even with a site update, you entertain.

Tucson based Serious Eaters - posting?

I don't live in Tucson, but my wife grew up there and I'd also love to see more on SE. There's so much great Mexican food there. My favorite is Micha's. I could eat an echilada style machaca burro every day of my life. Whare are some of your favorite spots, @missvenuz?

Cheap dinner recommendations in Cobble Hill

I missed this when it came thorugh, but here's my 2 cents!

Yemen Cuisine is amazing. There are two other spots on Atlantic that are also good, but this one is my fave. Try the Chicken Gahloub.

Building on Bond only opened a few months ago, but they have relatively cheap sandwiches, a decent burger and great ambiance. They've also got beer on tap and pretty good coffee.

Nicky's is a known commodity, but not everyone remembers it's right there on Atlantic! Great, cheap bahn mi.

Fast and Fresh Deli on Hoyt Street has killer tacos and tortas but nowhere to sit. It's only a block from my place though so grab something to eat and come on over!

A New York Original Closes Its Doors After 22 Years

As we get ready to move our offices back to the neighborhood, I'm mourning Kitchen/Market all over again. Ed, let us know if Dona and Stuart are doing anything now! I want to eat their food.

Shake Shack UWS Madness On Tap: Let the Frozen Fries Start Flowin' in My 'Hood

I'm with Mr. Kuban. These fries are mediocre on their best days. Spend your calories elsewhere.

Thank the lord for a hot dog bun steamer. They've always had funky buns and steaming them should go a long way to improving the experience.

Cheeseburger Spring Rolls, a New Classic?

Ugh, I wish they wouldn't call these cheeseburger rolls. Ground beef and cheese does not a cheeseburger make.

Snarkiness aside, these sound f'in delicious.

Soda Pop Stop: One-Stop Shopping for 450 Different Sodas

I am a root beer nut and I'm disappointed that no one serves Sprecher or Weinhardt's in NYC.

As an aside, I'd love to find somewhere in NYC that has this kind of selection. I'd love to order, but shipping prices kill you. Anyone have any good leads?

Hershey's removes Cocoa Butter from candy.

cybele - thanks for all that info. As for Scharfen Berger, I visited their factory in Berkeley about a year ago and the chocolate was as delicious as ever. Of course, this was obviously coming direct from that location. They did say that no recipes or sources have changed, so I bet your suspicion is correct. Either way, I'm not going to stop eating Scharfen Berger — it's damn fine chocolate.

Hershey's removes Cocoa Butter from candy.

Also worth noting is that not all of their products are making the switch.

Products such as Whatchamacallit, Milk Duds, Mr. Goodbar and Krackel no longer have milk chocolate coatings, and Hershey’s Kissables are now labeled “chocolate candy” instead of “milk chocolate.”
In a statement, Hershey’s told TODAY that consumers love its products and all its candies are clearly labeled. It still offers real milk chocolate in Hershey’s Kisses, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and its classic chocolate bar.

I got those quotes from this MSNBC article.

AHT Alum Weighs in on Park Slope Burgers

This is why I'm glad I didn't ask for anyone else's opinion before I visited these spots. I think I got lucky and missed out on most of the spice rub. I did get one bite with it and it was...distracting. Should have mentioned that.

Still, it was cooked perfectly. The beef was loose and melted in your mouth. It also wasn't too charry. Maybe it's because they knew I was coming, but my burger was tasty.

Zuni Cafe's $8 Nectarine Dessert Is Just a Nectarine; Diners Left Confused

It seems to me the issue is presentation and expectations. If the menu had said, "The most perfect and delicious whole nectarine we could find", it wouldn't bother me. In fact, given the right mood, I would consider buying it. I certainly don't spend $8 on fruit everyday, but having splurged on Indian mangoes a couple times, I've learned the value of truly transcendent fruit.

Best Bratwurst?

If you happen to be near Kenosha, WI (halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee), I'm a big fan of the Brat Stop. You can eat in or bring raw ones home with you.

Otherwise, go with Johnsonville. It's the standard.
