jazzing up white rice

I like plain white rice with half a bottle of soy sauce on it.

What Was Your Favorite School Cafeteria Food?

I don't mean to sound negative but the elementary school lunches where nasty. In High School we didn't have a cafeteria. We had vending machines so I would have to say Doritos.

Eaten what's not food?

I used to love going to this local Mexican place. Great people etc. My friends hubby who is a bug terminator told me not to eat there anymore. He said the kitchen was so infested with cockroaches that when he sprayed there they were jumping out of the cuffs of his pants when he left. agh! I make my own tacos now.. I also remember when I worked at Burger King back in the day and a mouse ran across the lobby, A customer said something to the manager and the manager said yeah we get them. I quit that day.

Portland to San Francisco

If you happen to pass through my neck of the woods, Redding CA. Do try Jack's Grill on California St. It's a real gem if you like steak.

SERIOUS help: convincing someone to change their eating habits

My grandparents are very old school. I try to give them what I call helpful hints. Like please don't eat that food after it has been sitting on the counter all night in 100 plus weather. But sigh to no avail. I just love them and let them be. That's the best we can do.

How many times a day do you eat?

I start out good in the morning. Yogurt and some grapes or something. Then off to work. A nice cold Redbull and a Slim Jim for lunch along with a couple of cigarettes. Dinner.. I eat like a Truck Driver.

How many times a day do you eat?

Two snacks a day. Like cheese and crackers or some nice fruit like cantaloupe.
Dinner is off the hook, whatever is around from pulled pork to shrimp I always overeat.

Desperately Seeking Culinary Externship Advice

We have a restaurant that opened up a few months ago in a this very poor economy. To make a long story semi short, the owner ran out of cash. He put an add in the paper asking for volunteers to help him see his dreams come true. He took on out of work carpenters, cooks and wait staff on a will work for food basis. The response was overwhelming. If your willing to go that route that might be something to look into. He kept the good ones and now they make a decent salary and have a nice little place to show for it.
