Cook the Book: 'Food Matters: A Guide to Conscious Eating'

I checked this book out of the library when it was first released and really liked it. I've always liked Bittman's recipes and fully agree with his style of eating. We're eating far more non-meat protein than ever before.

Cook the Book: 'Almost Meatless'

I use lots of veggies and a couple ounces lean ground beef in my spaghetti sauce. It's very satisfying mixed with cooked pasta.

Cook the Book: 'Baking Unplugged'

Many years ago, after thinking we'd mastering chocolate chip cookies and brownies my friend & I decided to make cinnamon rolls.

We'd never worked with yeast and had no idea what we were doing. Our yeast never rose and when we were done we had round hockey pucks that had a little cinnamon flavor.

Cook the Book: 'The Bon Appétit Fast Easy Fresh Cookbook'

We like to drain & rinse a can of white beans, add 1 can seasoned, diced tomatoes, & 12-16 ounces cooked, shelled shrimp. We heat until boiling and then toss in about 6 ounces fresh spinach until wilted. Quick and tasty.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Praise the Lard Gift Box

In high school my best friend was catholic and didn't eat meat on Fridays. I remember spending the night at her house and waiting until midnight to have a BLT or ham sandwich. They were especially good because we had to wait for them.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: D'Artagnan Boneless Heritage Ham

My fav has lots of thinly sliced ham, sweet & spicy mustard, and any great cheese on homemade bread. Slather a little butter on the outside of the bread and grill until nicely browned.
