How do you wine experts rate "Two Buck Chuck"?

I am a cab lover and I thought it was a very good wine honestly. I didnt think it seemed to acidic. Perhaps I got a good batch. Our tax laws in MI are insane on any and all spirits sort to speak so when I can get a 3.00 bottle of wine I buy a case....our closest Trader Joes is in Milwaukee. I did hear that the rumor of the nasty divorce and selling it cheap is not true. I also know that the same bottle at our local Econo Foods is $12.99 and thats a fact..

What have you done with your garden bounty so far?

I want to move where there is a longer growing season. We have 30's at night still. I'm in the UPper Peninsula of MI and our growing season is so short. Hardly can get a tomatoe to rippen before the fall frost again. Still have to bring my anuals in at night. I have started my herbs on my deck.

Spare Ribs help

Actually I made ribs yesterday. I like to put them in the oven on a low heat for about an hour covered w/tin foil then I put them in my crock pot on low for about 4-5 hours with my favorite bbq sauce and they just fall apart. Yum.
I found that if you use a crock pot they cook slower. I gave mine to my daughter so I put them in my new slow cooker and they cooked too hot too fast so they were alittle dry and on the over done side. I put them in around midnight and let them cook overnight. Wont be able to do that with this slow cooker. I was able to with my crock pot. Darn. Oh well still mucked them down. ha!!

canning

Canning is very rewarding. But get ready for a long day and put on some good tennis shoes because your on your feet. A dish washer is wonderful for sterlizing your jars. You will want to get a jar grabber to take the hot jars out of the canner Large pot that comes with a jar stand that sits at the bottom to keep the jars from tipping over. It has handles so you can pull all the jars out once they process. (Boil) then just listen to the pops then you know the lids have sealed. Its music to your ears. Your fruit you need to blanch then peel the skins and core the pit and slice. If your canning peaches, pears you will boil a sugar water to add to the fruit before hot water bathing to process. Ball Blue the jars them selves have wonderful recipes and instructions. Pretty no fail actually. I havent done meat my understanding is you need a preasure cooker for that. I have done pickled venison and fish and that turned out great.
