Stadium Sandwich Wars

Had a Mike's Deli sandwich tonight at the Yankee game. Have never been to the real Mike's on Arthur Ave, shame on me. I had the "Michaelangelo" which was a italian cold cut sandwich with cheese and roasted peppers on foccacia. Listed on the menu as a "pannini". All sandwiches were listed as pannini's. There was no pannini press, the sandwiches were premade and served cold, in a plastic clamshell box. The meat, cheese and peppers were all excellent but the bread suffered badly from being so cold. This being Yankee Stadium the sandwich also cost $9.50. Washed down with a $5 coke and you had a better than average ballpark meal for under $15. A value? Hardly. But considering the cost of everything in that stadium not too bad.

Will you go to Hoboken? If so the Elysian Cafe at 1001 Washington St. (201)798-5898 makes one of the best lobster rolls I have ever had. Better than the Pearl in my opinion.
