Cook the Book: 'Gourmet Today'

My first cookbook was America Cook's. It was my moms and she let me borrow it until I found my own copy.

I love bacon because it smells so good when cooking. Then you get to eat it!

Start a photo expose. Use your camera to document what you see from the street. Of course then you have a reason to tell the chefs you are being creative and would like their participation in the photo shoot. I bet they would like to see the photos and maybe post them in the kitchen.

Cook the Book: 'What We Eat When We Eat Alone'

I like to make brown rice with black beans, corn and salsa. (My hubby does not like it.)

From Serious Eats

Cook the Book: 'Canal House Cooking, Vol. 1'

I like to make a brown rice, white bean, corn and salsa salad. You can eat it hot or cold.

Cook the Book: 'Mrs. Rowe's Little Book of Southern Pies'

Baking disaster. I forgot the brown sugar in a batch of cookies. Awful.

Cook the Book: 'Bobby Flay's Burgers, Fries & Shakes'

My burger is dressed with Mayo, A-1 sauce and a thick slice of tomato on a burger with provolone cheese. YUM.

Cook the Book: 'Endangered Recipes' by Lari Robling

My grandmother would make popcorn balls every Christmas and attach them to a wreath by the front door. We could take one for the ride home. They were the best.

Cook the Book: 'Bottega Favorita' by Frank Stitt

Fried spaghetti. Heat a little oil in a frying pan, take leftover spaghetti mixed with sauce and fry it for a few minutes until hot. It is delish.

Cook to Bang. Recipes to get you laid?

I think the concept is extremely clever. I looked at quite a few of the recipes and they are actually sound delish. My only critique is the blog itself needs some "spice" to it. Kind of a plain jane setting.

Cook the Book: 'Serious Barbecue' by Adam Perry Lang

I am the Queen of the Chicken as my husband calls me. He always overcooks it. Mine comes out just right with no dryness, everytime.

Cook the Book: 'Tacos'

First time I ever had one I was a little girl on the east coast. We traveled to Florida and found a Taco Bell. It was very inexpensive back then so my dad ordered one of everything on the menu. (the menu was much smaller). I remember having a bite of my first crunchy taco and it was so new to me and delicious. The burrito confused us and my dad has to ask if you ate the wrapping.

Cook the Book: 'Real Cajun'

We lived a few blocks away from a cookie baking factory. My mom would take us 3 girls to the factory on many occasions. They had a little store where you could buy the imperfect cookies at a discount. They never looked imperfect to a little kid. Just delicious.

Cook the Book: 'The Asian Grill'

I slow cooked a brisket on the grill once. It was cooking for a long period of time. I kept checking on it not really knowing how it was supposed to turn out. Several hours later, according to the recipe time, it still had not cooked. That is when I found out the gas tank had run out.

Cook the Book: 'Urban Italian'

Spaghetti with meat sauce - fried the next day with a little oil.

Cook the Book: 'Ten'

I was craving a creme brulee dessert that was served at a casino approx 2 hours away from me. I hopped in the car, picked up my mom and off went to the casino for the day. It was an expensive " came home broke" craving.

Cook the Book: 'Beyond the Great Wall'

I have not been to a remote place but I did travel to Mexico with my family many years ago. We were sitting in a restaurant when all this smoke started pouring out of the kitchen. At first it was a little funny but then we saw all the cooks and the wait staff running out of the building. They never said anything to the customers but we figured we had better get out fast. So we ran out with everyone else and watched from across the street as the fire trucks arrived.
