Katz's Deli: Go for the Pastrami, Not the Breakfast

Nick- I am surprised and disappointed that you, one of my favorite writers, has jumped on the Richman bandwagon. As I posted here: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/633861 you don't order the philly cheesesteak at a NY deli. That goes for pancakes too. But Katz's salami and eggs is one of the great breakfasts that imbue existence with meaning. I have shared tables early in the morning at Katz's 9yes it does get crowded early in the morning) with memebers of two of the glorious tribes of NYC-Jews (of which I'm a card carrying member) and African-Americans. The salami and eggs provide a mutual bond among peoples who don't give a
&%$# about their cholesterol level. Please try again Nick.

Murray's Cheese Shop Ups Its Own Lunch Game

You missed the best one- the Little Stinker-Grayson's washed rind from Virginia with Niman Ranch ham on caraway seeded rye. OMG!

Di Fara Raising Slice Prices to $5; Will Close Tuesdays in Addition to Mondays

I love Dom and the price doesn't matter but the lines. Think I'll stick to Patsy's on 117th Street, no line, fantastic slices, though I hear they may raise their price in sympathy to $2.00 a slice from the current $1.75. ;)

Reactions to the 'GQ' Top 25 Pizza List

My top 10 plus. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/305174
Ever since Richman dissed New Orleans, I've found him hard to take "seriously" but his pizza list demonstrates either a real lack of experience or simply the desire to piss people off. Even the pizzerias that he includes that I agree should be on a "top" list (e.g. Sally's), he orders something ridiculous like a potato pie. The one comment I have to agree with that he makes is that when it comes to pizza, America (specifically, IMO, NYC) has it over Italy (Napoli).

What Do You Think of Dijon on Burgers?

I had already commented that Dijon on a burger was unconstitutional, non-egalitarian, unpatriotic and grounds for impeachment.

Behind the Scenes Look at Smith and Wollensky's Prime Rib

Nick- I, too, am a prime rib man. S&W is in my top 5. However, #1 and still undisputed champion is Keen's. What do you think?

Obama, Biden Eat at Ray's Hell Burger

Dijon mustard!!!! Fox News has already recycled the old Grey Poupon commercials with the guy rolling down the window on his Rolls Royce and asking "Excuse me, do you have any Grey Poupon?" but never on a hamburger. Impeach.

Serious Sandwiches: Tony Luke's Roast Pork Italian, Philadelphia

Adam- nice seeing you at the Hot Dog Hootenanny. Never been to the real Tony Luke's but before morphing into Shorty's (uphill on the decor, downhill on the food), the roast pork Italian at the Tony Luke's "outpost" on 9th avenue was at one point my favorite sandwich in the NYC.

I feel the same way I did about Domino's before I saw the video as after the video. Thank God now the rest of America finally agrees with me and can look for some decent pizza.

The Prime Burger: Past Its Prime

Nick- I love you but you can't compare an institution like Prime Burger to modern gourmet burger joints. Not fair. Also, find a different adjective than "mealy" which implies they use some filler, which they don't. Lastly, if you had tried a piece of their homemade pies, all would have been forgiven I'm sure.
