I love Michael Symon, and I think he is a great replacment for Irvine. He was a pretty good chef, but unlike the previous poster, I didn't like the way he stressed out all the time.... Michael Symon is cool (and funny) under pressure!

Eating for Two: Peanut Butter Cookies

I can answer for the previous poster and say that yes, the recipe is correct - no flour needed. I have made this recipe myself many times, and it is really the best (and easiest) PB cookie recipe ever!

they are good - they sort of taste like green beans, but have the texture of okra. Fresh is much better than canned, we can get them here in Phoenix at the market already cleaned and diced. I like them in scrambled eggs.... I also make a veggie side dish by just combining them with frozen corn and pop in the micro for a couple of minutes and add butter - yum!

Overheard at Goodwill...

I always label any new jars of spices I buy with the date I bought it, and toss them after about 6 months.... it's not that they go bad, just lose a lot of their punch.... it wouldn't hurt anything to use spices that are older, but you won't get the same flavor.

Best weird taste combinations?

my brother and I grew up eating peanut butter and potato chip sandwiches:

Wonder bread
extra crunchy peanut butter
strawberry jelly
Lay's potato chips

We would put a thick layer of potato chips over the jelly, and smash it all down - so yummy!! I guess it was the salty/sweet combo that we loved - I still make them every once in a while!

Holiday Dinner - Hits and Misses

Diana - your 'traditional' dinner sounds very much like ours! I love to cook new things, but the family only wants the food we grew up with on Christmas... the few times I tried to throw in my own touches (home made cranberry sauce instead of the canned stuff) it was met with 'this is good, but it's not the same'. sigh...
