My only authentic tapas experience in Spain was in high school - my h.s. Spanish class went to Andalucia region for a week. All the restaurants and foodstuff was arranged by our teachers, so I can't comment on what exactly we ate and where we ate it...but my oh my was it delicious! I had never had food like that before the trip.

I like to buy it in its frozen form in Rhode Island
Cook the Book: 'L.A.'s Original Farmers Market Cookbook'
Stillman Farm's in Boston. They have a stand at the Coolidge Corner farmer's market (which itself is wonderful in its variety of meats, produce, ice cream, baked goods, fish, cheese, and even honey). I had a CSA with Stillman's last year and it was always felt like Christmas when I looked to see what the week's produce would be.
Cook the Book: 'Modern Spice'
Indian - I wish there were some easy-to-follow Youtube videos for Indian cooking. I've got the spices and I've tried my hand at making a few recipes, however, the final product doesn't come close to 'real' Indian homemade or restaurant-quality.

Sweet potato gnocchi
Cook the Book: 'On the Line'
As nature intended it to be - raw, simple and fresh. Sushi, oysters, and ceviche are so beautiful and straight-forwardedly satisfying...these items make a strong argument against "cooking" food!
Cook the Book: The Essence of Chocolate
I'm a sucker for the peanut butter frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity 3. True, it's 'adulterated' with PB, but who can resist that combo?!
Cook the Book: 'Osteria'
Korean soondubu jigae. It's a spicy stew made with oh-so-soft tofu and shellfish.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Praise the Lard Gift Box
Sharing BLT's made by my cute elderly neighborhood lady...with today's culture, I can't believe that my parents let my brother and me visit an old lady up the street every week without being cautious about it...
Cook the Book: 'Baked, New Frontiers in Baking'
Carvel ice cream cake, due to the 'chocolate crunchies'. I felt nostalgic and bought it for my birthday one year, but I am sad to say that I have outgrown it - it wasn't the delicious crunchy, cold, sweet mixture I had remembered!
Weekend Book Giveaway: 'Asian Dining Rules'
My co-workers and I went to a Thai restaurant for lunch. I was the only Asian person out of the group of 5. One of my co-workers and I ordered the same item, but in differing spice-levels. I had read ahead of time on Chowhound that this particular restaurant serves unexpectedly spicy food, so I had purposely ordered a 'mild' version of the dish. My co-worker ordered the 'spicy' version. Not surprisingly, the waiter had switched our orders and I was served the 'spicy' version. I started eating the dish, unknowingly, and it became all too apparent to me that I was the victim of a stereotype. The server had assumed that I was the one that had ordered the 'spicy' version...not my Caucasian co-worker. The dish turned out to have 11 thai bird chili peppers! Between asking the waiter to repeatedly fill my water glass and gulping down as much liquid as I could to cool my burning taste buds, my face glowed increasingly redder throughout the meal. After the meal was finished, my co-worker looked at my dish, saw the numerous chili peppers, and casually stated, "Hmm...it looks like they mixed up our dishes. Mine was really spicy though, so I'm glad I didn't get stuck with the 'spicy' one"

The bolognese pork roasted in milk - so tasty and tender
Cook the Book: 'Giada's Kitchen'
Bolognese sauce is the best!
Weekend Book Giveaway: 'The Saucier's Apprentice'
My boyfriend and I baked a pumpkin pie for a pot-luck Thanksgiving dinner. My boyfriend isn't a regular in the kitchen, and is even worse at baking...so he put me in charge of giving him tasks to do. We set out all the ingredients on to the kitchen table and started following the recipe. The pie looked great when it came out.
That evening...
We had a great Thanksgiving dinner with a dozen friends...now, came time for dessert. We had a fair spread of desserts at the table, so almost everyone took a sliver or spoonfull of each dessert. When we tasted the pumpkin pie, my eyes bulged and were tell-tale signs that something was wrong...we had forgotten to add sugar!
