I once went to watch Sonya Thomas in a crabcake eating competition in Baltimore, and after she handily beat her competition, she was walking away with a plate full of more crabcakes, which she said she was going to have for dinner. (true story).

She actually gave the crabcakes to me and my friends because we had gone to root for her, and even made posters to cheer her on. The crabcakes were quite tasty, and Sonya was incredibly nice!

Kosher salt isn't iodized, so it doesn't impart the weird iodine flavor that table salt has.

(we get plenty of iodine in our diets these days, so iodized salt really isn't needed anymore)

It's like the In-and-Out of the Mid-Atlantic. Every one that I've been to serves the thin fries, fried in peanut oil. They don't get the fries in frozen either. There's always a sign in the restaurant that says where they got their potatoes from that day.

And the small fries size is more than enough for two people. They put a small cup in your bag, then scoop the fries into the bag. I think a large fry order would get you fewer fries, because the cup itself takes up more room!

yeah, there are several ingredients too many in that "Caesar" salad.

I'm sure everyone that reads this site knows this, but if this stuff interests you, you have to watch Good Eats (on Food Network) with Alton Brown. It's basically stuff from the Corriher and McGee books, but in an amusing tv show.

It's by far my favorite show on that channel.
