Lobster...but it has to come right out of the ocean in Maine. One New Year's eve..we drove 4 hours from Ct. to Maine to get the best the ocean has to offer! We drove( four hours) home and steamed them!! Loved it!!!

I have not entered this contest in quite a while..the last number of books have been (to me) boring and somewhat just the same old stuff!..but this one looks a bit different,,,Hopefully!.....thus, I offer ...cashew, cheese, crackers, tapenade and grapes......nice balance....also like goat cheese and a chili jelly....
Here's to winning!!!

And finally, I love serious eats!!!!!IT IS THE BEST.

whats the best fry pan ?

I looked at the ratings on America Test Kitchen..and they recommended the non stick pan from Cuisinart. I love it.....and they recommend replacing when scratched,. Fyi, they are a big fan of All Clad, but not for nonstick. I bought it and I love it. I also love my cast iron.

Cook the Book: 'Arthur Schwartz's Jewish Home Cooking'

Pastrami on rye....with great Hebrew National Mustard! I have never had brisket....I will make it if I win! But I am not Jewish...so maybe the book should go to the nice Jewish girl above!!

Cook the Book: 'The Martha Stewart Living Cookbook: The Original Classics'

I tried her recipes in the early 80's and hated them...they never worked....I vowed never to buy her books ...but recently...her STAFF has produced great work...I recently bought the Everyday Food cookbook..and it is quite good. I have looked at this Classic cookbook...and the second volume..but with my past experience with Martha...I am hesitant to buy them....If I win one...I will report back on Serious Eats!

Weekend Book Giveaway: Marco Pierre White's Devil In The Kitchen

My daughter has been calling me from college every Monday night when it is her turn to cook dinner for six. I have to spend four hours on the phone walking her through the grocery store purchases and then thru the cooking process. I usually send her an easy receipe by email and then we cook together long distance. It is hard...I hate to cook long distance and would have loved to have cooked with her at home...but she had no interest. So, who do I hate cooking with......the PHONE! Please, I hope I win this book....I will have something to read in the down time on the phone...waiting for water to boil etc.!!!!!!!

Vermouth: Your Liquor Cabinet's Neglected Child

Twenty years ago I bought a sweet vermouth for my mom's visit to my new home. My mom loves her martinis and has never let me forget that she only likes the Dry vermouth. Since then she always brings her own Martini and Rossi dry vermouth. Believe it or not , I have never tried vermouth and would always end up dumping the remainder the the bottle after she left. This last visit , having most of the bottle left...I started cooking with it...substituting for wine in various recipes...I especially liked it with Chicken Piccata.. and my family noticed the slight change in taste. I love it because I can keep it for at least a month , and it is less expensive than using wine.

Who's your most/least favorite food personality on Food Channel?

I am getting tired of Food Network...I loved it in the beginning, with Puck and Ming, and Batali....but now it is just dumbed down. i cannot watch Ray or Sandra Lee... and I cannot watch Flay talk and eat without any manners. I can tolerate Ina, but she is so predictable...most receipes have been done forever....her show is uninspired..... Giada's and Michael of Napa Style are the only chefs with some excitement.

While Paula is fun...I have never wanted to even try her fat and heart attack dishes. One visit to the Lady and Sons Restaurant in Savannah will cure you of any interest in her food......
