...And yet here we are confronted once again by the French Paradox. Duck fat is probably the most useful rendered animal fat in the kitchen but nothing beats real English fish and chips cooked in beef dripping. You should've included foie gras in this article. Or even better, lardo.

The Nasty Bits: No Mean Feet

Like some other Chinese food, the problem here for most Westerners is the texture (aside from those who are grossed out). I like the taste of chicken feet but gnawing on them just isn't fun for me.

I remember the first time I tried chicken feet during yum cha at a local Chinese restaurant. The waitress did a double take to make sure I was asking for the right dish and then smiled before reluctantly taking my order.

I'm not a fan. They were giving out the diddy cans at Westfield but it was so horrible. The glass bottle version has a nicer taste but it's still pretty damn horrible. You want that classic cola taste? Drink Fentiman's Curiosity Cola. There's a drink from the UK worth talking about.
