I am a cheese fiend so I usually toast some bread and melt some cheese over it under the broiler. I then dump an obscene amount of hot sauce over the whole thing. The dish is really just an excuse to eat more hot sauce - my favorite being a jalapeno cilantro variety.

I used to go to a place in London where they topped the burger with a giant portobello mushroom and creamy blue cheese. I became so addicted that I craved them weekly. I blame the blue cheese.

Cook the Book: 'L.A.'s Original Farmers Market Cookbook'

When I lived in Ann Arbor there would be an organic milk vendor that would come only every other week. I always made sure to stop by the market on the weeks he was there because I was completely addicted to his milk. It was so wonderful and sweet, I would drink it as dessert after dinner it was that good!

I would really love to have a firm grasp on Creole cooking. As an expat who lived first in the UK and now in Australia this is the one cuisine that I have seen very little of. From what I have tasted, the flavours are strong and exciting and would make my dinner parties stand out from the rest.

With regards to the 'unforgettable' element it would have to be the midwest classic Dirt Cake. Having left home a long time ago it makes me nostalgic to think of the crushed up chocolate oreo cookies mixed with the chocolate pudding and whipped cream with a few gummy worms thrown in for good measure. As a kid it gave me an unbeatable sugar high and in my globe trotting travels I have yet to find anything that comes close in sugary taste and kitschiness!

Weekend Book Giveaway: 'Asian Dining Rules'

My partner is Asian (I am not) and I regularly make an a$$ of myself when dining with his family. The worst episode to date was when I met his aunt and we went to dinner at China town. Typically one person will order for the entire table and we just pick and choose what we want to eat. I usually let my partner serve me because I am helpless with non-wooden chopsticks. As luck would have it the chopsticks were plastic and as I was inconspicuously trying to reach for a piece of chicken it slipped out of my chop-stick grip and plopped into his aunts tea. Absolute mortification. Now when I dine out with his family I only eat what is directly in front of me with no reaching involved.

My absolute favorite is my grandmother's bow tie pasta salad with broccoli, tomatoes, mozzarella, and olives with a mayo-cider vinegar dressing. yum!

I somehow melted a pan of brownies in the oven. After covering the bottom of the oven they promptly burned to a crisp and left me with a little afternoon cleaning project. I have yet to bake brownies since that fateful day.
