Cook the Book: 'Gourmet Today'

My first cookbook was the "International Pantry Cookbook", I got it when I started college and never looked back!

Cook the Book: 'What We Eat When We Eat Alone'

Cereal or leftovers or eggs. Or something I can whip together quickly from things I have on time like ramen noodles, summer squash and a good amount of cheese.

A broccoli feta sauce thats flavored with lemon and served over pasta. I'm also a sucker for bean and cheese nachos with salsa and guacamole! My favorite recipes lately have been meatless.

Threadless T-Shirt Giveaway: Booty Fruit

I love fruit. But if I have to choose just one, apples. Preferably Jazz or Pink Lady.

Threadless T-Shirt Giveaway: A Piece of Cake

Red Velvet Cake with butter-cream icing...I know, it’s supposed to have cream-cheese icing but it’s SO good with butter-cream.

Threadless T-Shirt Giveaway: Lemon Aid

Juice of 1-2 lemons, sugar and water to taste, add ice. Great for when you have a cold and need a super shot of Vitamin-C.
I also love Chick-fil-A lemonade.
I know it's horrible but I really also like Crystal Light "Natural Lemonade" flavor....the kind you mix in a pitcher, not in a water bottle.

Threadless T-Shirt Giveaway: Baron VonFunburger's Haunted Castle Cavalcade

Chick-fil-A chicken strips and waffle fries! Really anything from Chick-fil-A...yum.

Cook the Book: 'Rustic Fruit Desserts'

Anything with Huckleberries...which aren't common in Texas. Peach cobbler is always a favorite, especially with Fredericksburg peaches.

The Most Beautiful Baked Good: Cookie Cake Pie

Brownie + cheesecake + chocolate icing....it's so wonderful and to be made for special occasions. It's essentially a cheesecake brownie with icing, but believe me, it's SO much more!

Cook the Book: 'Endangered Recipes' by Lari Robling

My grandmother's cheeseburgers on Saturday nights! She'd cook it all on the stove and top it off with homemade chili con queso rather than sliced or shredded cheese....then wrap it up tight in a paper napkin like at a diner. Oh and she'd always fry up a few (never a lot) French fries that had just enough crisp to them.

Cook the Book: 'Bottega Favorita' by Frank Stitt

Artichoke hearts, black olives, diced tomatoes, super fresh feta cheese, and olive oil on whole wheat pasta is always delicious. And it can easily be varied with what you have on hand!

Cook the Book: 'Serious Barbecue' by Adam Perry Lang

As a birthday gift, I gave my then-boyfriend/now-husband a mini-Weber. The first thing he grilled was burgers. I seasoned and he grilled. Those were tasty, perfect burgers for two newbies to a charcoal grillilling. We since have expanded our horizons, but that was pretty great.

What's Your Perfect Omelette?

For me it's avocado, steamed mushrooms, red onion, green bell pepper, tomato, cheddar and jack cheese.

I also make one that's my husband's favorite anytime meal that has asparagus, marinara sauce, and parmesan cheese.

Cook the Book: 'Tacos'

Taco Friday nights when I was growing up...a tradition they started when they got married 35 years ago and still continue pretty much every Friday now. Some people do pizza Friday nights, my family does tacos.

Cook the Book: 'Real Cajun'

Eating fresh, juicy Texas summer peaches with my mom after our mid-morning walk when I was 5. We'd sit at the kitchen table and watch a re-run of "The Golden Girls" (and my mom doesn't typically watch re-runs) or she'd listen to my childish babble. :o)
