What are you cooking for Rosh Hashanah?

@sixsonnets - which Barefoot Contessa recipe are you going to use? Looking some up now, but she does a lot of roast chicken!

I'll be at my brothers on Friday night, which means all I need to bring is wine.

Saturday night is just my husband and myself so I figured roast chicken, potato kugel and some sort of veggie.

Waffle Party!!!

I would do a traditional Belgian liege waffle. It is time consuming (they use yeast in the batter). But the waffles are delicious and really need no topping - however some ice cream or chocolate sauce would also be nice.

I know they recently posted on The Kitchn a recipe.

Also didn't serious eats just post brownie waffles?

best seattle eats?

I almost forgot Pink Door - it's hard to find, but worth it once you are there.

best seattle eats?

add a second of Steelhead Diner - probably one of the best meals I've had in Seattle. Unfortunately, can't really remember some of the other places I've been too. But I go every year, so looking forward to some new recs.

Need to use fresh mozzarella

what about calzone? You can use both the mozz and ricotta.

Best ice cream in NYC?

I'm on the bandwagon for Blue Marble & Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory.

Trois Pommes Patisserie in Park Slope on 5th Avenue. They made my ice cream wedding cake last year and it was amazing.

Have you had Uncle Louie G's? it's good, but not as good as the three above.

Also Jacques Torres now has an ice cream shop in Dumbo, have yet to try it.

Any great quiche recipes?!

I'm a big fan of the caramelized onions, goat cheese and fresh tomatoes.

One experiment turned out delicious - fresh chorizo (cooked then drained of excess grease), pepper jack & cheddar cheese, and chopped tomatoes.

For the fresh tomatoes just be sure to salt and place on paper towels first as to soak up the extra juice.

Wine, cider and beer brewing supplies

My husband has ordered from Northern Brewer and they have a large selection. If you want a brick and morter store, there is one in Northport on Long Island. Worth the trip if you have a car/zipcar, it's about a 60-90 minute (depending on traffic) drive from the city.

Planning a (non-raunchy) Bachelorette Party

I also went to Pravda for part of my bachelorette. However the original plan was to go to Lucky Changs, they apparently have a pre-fix/open bar type thing which includes a show and karaoke. It didn't pan out because it was going to cost a little too much for a few friends and my MOH didn't want to leave anyone out. If I remember correctly, it was going to be about $150 a person, which included my cost. But remember, this includes drinks so it might be a good option.

Cook the Book: The Essence of Chocolate

The most amazing truffle at Tartufo a little shop in Leuven, Beglium. The shopkeeper runs the show himself. The chocolates are made in the back in the kitchen with a little storefront/showcase and the chocolates were just to die for.

I also recently made the "oreos" from FN magazine, but used dark chocolate cocoa powder and dipped them in semi-sweet chocolate. It was heaven.
