Best food for a stomach ache?

Pho with only sriracha and no tripe or meatballs. Steaming hot, spicy broth, lots of noodles, fresh flavors makes me feel better.

From Serious Eats

'What We Eat When We Eat Alone'

White rice with sriracha, salt/pepper, butter, soy sauce, hot yellow peppers and maybe a piece of broiled tilapia.

Pasta with vegetables.

Baked beans from the can with bread and butter.

I put all of my "alone meals" in a bowl-- never on a plate.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: What's your favorite chx. dinner?

I really like it with white onion, potato, garlic, olive oil, rosemary, salt and pepper.

Strange food phobias?

I wouldn't eat jarred marinara for the longest time because my 10th grade science teacher told us that there is an average of 3 maggots in each jar-- and a similar situation with pre-ground spices with bugs probably mixed in.

I've since gotten over it because I realize that it's probably in everything!

Visiting supermarkets when traveling - doesn't everyone?

I do it all the time. I also check out Subway's "local favorites" menu to see if it's the same as mine in Michigan.

Bad Kitchen Habits

Dang I always throw everything in the sink while I cook. Peels, wrappers, plastic bags, bones, dirty dishes. I need to get one of those garbage bowls that Rachel Ray uses.

From A Hamburger Today

Roger Ebert on His Love for Steak 'n Shake

I really like the food although, I don't visit Steak and Shake often because the service has never been good for me.

Open Letter to Restaurants: It's 'Blue' Cheese, Not 'Bleu'

Michelle-- it's not just Americans who do this. In other countries, citizens pronounce things with their own dialect. For example, in Korea where I currently live, McDonalds works and eaters alike say "baw-gaw", not "bur-ger". In fact, I must say "baw-gaw" for most people to understand that I want a burger. Same goes for pizza ("pi-jja").

It's just how their language sounds-- and referring to your post, it's just how OUR language sounds.

I don't know about you, but I think it's annoying when Giada de Laurentiis describes her recipe with her normal American accent and then all of a sudden says in a thick Italian accent and intonation "PARmi-JANo-reJANo!".

What Would Make Your Perfect Coffee Shop Perfect?

-Local roasters
-Fireplace
-Patio with smoking (try a corner location)
-Team up with a well-liked local bakery and supply some of their items in your place
-Your own beverage recipes-- many indie places have mixes that they get from companies for frappes and smoothies that aren't always yummy
-A signature drink

It's 10 p.m. and You're Starving

I almost always have rice warming in my rice cooker so I'll take a scoop of that and add soy sauce, salt, pepper and butter. Or if I want sweet, I'll add white sugar and milk and eat the rice like cereal.

What's Your Favorite 'Vegetarian' Dish?

I make:
-stir fry about 3-4 times a week. Usually I use onion, garlic, celery, carrot, broccoli, bell pepper, baby bok choy, and maybe mushroom.
-garlic sauteed veggies in olive oil as a side on many nights or just for lunch
-fried rice
- vegetable soup (I add a jar of vegetarian marinara for a flavor boost)

Recommendations: Where Should I Eat, Snack, Munch, and Drink in Las Vegas?

Grand Lux Cafe inside of Venetian is great. It's pretty much Cheesecake's twin, but if you don't have a CCF in your town like me, it's a real treat.

Social House in Treasure Island is a wonderful sushi place.

In-N-Out is right off of Las Vegas Blvd and costs about 6 bucks by taxi. It's just a west coast thing, so again if you're like me, you'd enjoy trying a place you can't eat at everyday.

Bellagio has wonderful little snack places like gelato and crepes.

As for drinking-- there are about 10 bars for every party style out there!

WOW have a great time!! I wish I was in Vegas right now...

Blood Orange Pie?

An orange pie sounds delicious! You might want to check up on the amount of sugar you need (I imagine it'd be less). Limes are very sour and not eaten by themselves while oranges... well you know. Maybe you can add some lemon juice if you still want the tartness? Let us know how it turns out!

hate to cook, love to eat?

I hate making salad. Washing and drying lettuce, making a big mess of peels, stems and seeds in my sink... I'm getting angry just thinking about it.

From Talk

Any food you thought you hated until you finally tried it?

-Cottage cheese with pineapple
-Korean fishcakes in broth (Awdeng)
-Peanut butter and banana sandwich

From Talk

Shhhhhhh...What's that?

I'm looking forward to loading up on hard to get Korean food during my last month here. Then it's back to America to feed my 1-year old cravings-- tacos, cheese, bloody marys, dill pickles, inexpensive drip coffee, flavored creamers, anything that shouldn't be sweet but is in Korea for some reason, cheez-its, pie, avocados, limes, veggie burgers, frozen vegetables and Ben and Jerry's.

From Talk

What was the best thing you ate in '08?

I freshly fried happa from Lotte Department Store food court in Busan, Korea.

About smile

Website:

Location: Minneapolis

About: I love to cook and eat. Or just cook. Or just eat. Preferably both.

Favorite foods: I eat and enjoy everything except-- things smothered in BBQ sauce, most pork dishes, offal, extreme seafood, cream soda, the floating tomatoes in vegetable soup and strawberry ice cream most of the time.

Last bite on earth: Probably a fattouce salad with rice pilaf or a cheeseburger with pickles, a steamed bun and a thin beef patty. Or a Chicago dog.
