Frozen Pea Pops for Kids

It gives me an idea though...how about frozen blueberries, raspberries or strawberries? That'd be neat!

Creative Sushi Filling Ideas?

Granny Smith apples and tuna was a favorite...so was Mozzarella, Jalapeno and Salmon. I made one roll for my ex boyfriend that loved (totally NON traditional)...prosciutto, provolone, broccoli rabe and shiitake mushroom. it sounds like the weirdest combination...but it worked!! I also like one roll I had at a trendy sushi place here...Asparagus, mushroom and roasted pumpkin! It was the "Autumn Roll"

I'm in!! I go to Penn State :) I have some good tailgate recipes and stories :)

From Talk

Brown rice risotto!

I used Pacific Foods Low Sodium Veggie broth...and a glass of white wine...and a few more splashes :)

From Talk

Best summer dish?

Potentially the shrimp and asparagus risotto I made the other night for my new love interest :) Or the sesame encrusted Ahi tuna I had on our first date. Most of my best meals are ones I shared with someone I love...or did love. :)

Expresso vs Espresso: A pro-Expresso Rant

This is one of my pet peeves. I'm not going to get all high-horse because I'm Italian and whatnot, but I think if you are indulging in the another culture's food/beverage/custom, you should do your best to pronounce and partake properly. I'm not saying go learn Italian, but to completely ignore how the word is spelled and add in letters is a little silly. This is akin to my pet peeve of hearing "rih-cot-uh" cheese and "man-ih-coddy". The same goes for all ethnic cuisine--learn to pronounce and appreciate it, and I bet it'll be even more enjoyable.

Cherry etiquette?

I take the pit out and put it in a cup/paper towel. I've seen my co-workers eat some nasty stuff/eat like animals (saucy chicken wings, ribs, etc) so I have no qualms about a nice little healthy snack :)

From Talk

Cooking Myths?

Risotto and adding liquid 1 cup at a time. I have had the same results using all the liquid at once versus adding cup by cup. The key is stirring constantly.

I know this has been discussed before, but I don't care, in a good way

There's no need for sarcasm. A little niceness goes a mile around here.

I've heard that that dessert truck is good...the one with the good creme brulee?

Served: New York Is Not the Only Place for a Restaurant

I live right near Frenchtown, in Flemington. It is the cutest little town and SO relaxing! :)

"Healthy" cereal

Oh Whole Foods. I try and avoid their salad bar. I never do, and end up with a $12+ salad, LOL

From Talk

what is the first thing you grab?

Pretzels and a diet coke. I love pretzels. Or an apple, orange or pear.

Instant Potatoes & Other Embarrassing Food Stuff

Potato flakesss.

However, I don't make mashed potatoes with them...I drop blobs of them into a pan and make my version of a potato latke. That's what my mom did when I came home from a friend's and asked for them. Hey, we're italian and she went through a phase! lol :)

oh, and stuffing mix. I don't know why the Pepperidge farm bread is so much better stale and cubed...but it is!

Eaters and eating disorders

I struggled with anorexia through high school. And then I became a binge/purger through senior year of high school. Freshman year of college...I was so unhappy and homesick I stopped eating, or ate very little and "got rid of it"...I am 5'8" and I weighed 90 pounds. It was gross, now that I look back on it. I'm currently "recovered"...but I still have food issues. I get stressed and those urges return. I always think about food. I probably eat too much and I have a distorted view of what a "portion" is. I mean really, who else eats a whole pound of broccoli for dinner? That'd be me. I sort of feel like when you mess around with a basic survival function (eating) it will never go back to normal 100%.

I struggle every day. I would like to say I feel good at 130 pounds, but I don't....but I'm working on it. At 20 years old, I've put myself through alot of abuse and within the last year or so I've finally learned to embrace my body and myself...and learn to like myself again. It was a dark 6 years, but I'm seeing light now and eventually I'll love myself again. One day at a time.

pjracz10 -- thank you so much for the compliment! That really put a smile on my face :)

You can only eat one type of cheese for the rest of your life...

ONE? Eeps. Buffalo mozzarella is near the top,,,but feta cheese has a special place in my heart. So, can I have one of each since they're from difference animals? Oh...and colby jack...!!!

From Talk

Mothers day...

I want my Momma and my momma only :) She may not be famous or an icon...but, show me another woman whose macaroni and cheese makes everything feel better (from skinned knees to a broken heart)? And whose whipped cream cake is what I've looked forward to on my birthday since I was 11. My mother is amazing, and I hope I'm half as amazing of a mother someday!

I wouldn't mind having Lidia Bastianich in my family though. She'd fit right in! Her recipes also make frequent appearances!

From Talk

6 leftover egg yolks...need some ideas!

Tiramisu, caesar salad (we had ghetto caesar salad as a kid...I still eat it. Beat an egg or 2 in a bowl, lemon juice, salt and pepper...and toss with lettuce and parm cheese. LOL)...or fried rice!

From Talk

Strange home-made pizza

Artichoke hearts, feta and mushrooms

Salad pizza is fun too.

From Talk

Movie Bacon

Not exclusively bacon...but the scene from the movie "Pleasantville" when Reese and Toby are having their first 1950's breakfast and their mom gives them a huge stack of pancakes, a ham steak, etc, all drowned in maple syrup. Always makes me laugh!!
