Top Chef Train Wreck - Spoiler Alert

Ditto Brownie, and PerkyMac, he had no business adding anything to another chef's dish. It was almost like intentionally trying to have Carla come up looking bad. Good bye, and good riddance.

TNFNS: Lisa can SING??? Like oil in the pan...and I eat my words

I loved her presentation, Lisa has been my favorite to win all along. She has made some serious improvement over the course of the show, and seems much more relaxed in front of the camera. I would really like to see her win, and get her own program, Lisa has the looks, and skill to make a fabulous FN star. Go Lisa!

OK...Who's Going to WIN NFNS....Adam, Aaron or Lisa?

I hope it is Lisa, she has the most to offer, and can cook up a storm. Go Lisa!

Just saw Next Food Network Star. Who's in the lead?

My favorite is still Lisa, if she throws in some French words to describe her cooking, and dishes, thats ok, I'm always open to learning something new. Adam nailed last nights episode, I think he was the clear winner, and this after almost getting kicked off the island last week. Shane did get kicked off, he seemed to be a likeable contestant, and after a little more life experience, he'll be back, and win. Aaron is my next favorite, and last nights runner up. After a rough start, he really connected with the audience and his little helper. This is the Aaron I've been waiting to see for weeks. Go Lisa!

The Next Food Network Star [Warning: Spoiler]

I am really looking forward to watching this episode after seeing the previews, and watching the snipets on Rachel Ray's website. Thirty minutes to go and we'll know who is going home and who will continue to the next challenge. I still support Lisa, she seems to have the best combination of culinary knowledge, and personality.

Chain Restaurant Burgers

Hi bessfour, I logged on to the Counter Burger website, and this looks like a winner. I live on the East Coast also, and hope one will be coming to the Central Fla area. If no one replies to your post, please give an update, thanks!

Chain Restaurant Burgers

Ruby Tuesday's alpine swiss burger is really tasty, and I hate to admit it, but also fast-food chain, Dairy Queen's mushroom swiss grillburger, although it is very messy.

What's the Best American Food?

I'm not 100% sure but what about country fried steak? sometimes called chicken fried steak. A restaurant in my town offers a hungry mans breakfast with country fried steak, two eggs, hash browns, bisquits and gravy, and toast, yummy!

Fresh Corn on the Cob: Your Favorite Preps and Recipes?

I live in Florida, and have always had locally grown, and imported corn on the cob, grilled, steamed, boiled, I've even had it cooked inside the husk in tar (that was really tasty, seriously). But the sweetest, and most flavorful corn I've ever eaten came from the Connecticut valley in Massachusetts. A friend of mine had a vegatable stand in Massachusetts at one time, and he told me that the best corn came from the Connecticut Valley. So when the crop came in, I rode along with him to score some corn. We ate some of it raw off the cob, I have never tasted corn this sweet, and delicious ever, and it was even better cooked. I can't wait to get some more.

Candy Design Gone Wrong

I did a search on Mill Farm gummi lighthouses, and everyone else on the web had the same reaction. I'm with you annien, that designer has got some splainin to do. And for baboo, I read on a post that this is a brand of candy sold at Christmas Tree Shops.

What foods are uniquely '80s'?

Thanks Leo1881, I will give it a try.

Fish, love it or hate it?

Even with a wool sweater I can only produce so much navel lint. Responsible farming is the only answer.

From Talk

Fish, love it or hate it?

I guess i'm back to eating navel lint

What foods are uniquely '80s'?

I just remembered another one, pogs, it was eilther late eighties or early ninties, the cap off a milk bottle had a disc or part of the cap itself that was used in a kids game like marbles or tiddly winks or something.

From Talk

What foods are uniquely '80s'?

Burritos, and remember ale 8? I had a customer of mine give me an ale 8 a few months ago. I didn't think it was still available, it tasted like ginger ale with double caffene, and had a punk rock themed commercial in its heyday. He told me it is still being bottled, and I must admit that in the Fla. heat lit really tasted much lighter than a coke or pepsi, and quenched my thirst. Oh yeah, fruit roll ups, freeze dried ice cream, ( I saw this at Kennedy Space Center only a few years ago). Garbage pail kids gum, veggi burgers, ( if you were into the vegetarian thing), I tried the vegetarian deal, but a girl told me that eating cheese was a vegetarian sin of death, so I became a omnivore again. And my favorite, Bartles, and Jaymes wine coolers.

Do you have a Signature Dish?

I hijacked a recipe from my little sister, broccoli pie, its not what would be a signature dish for me, but when the situation warrants, its one that can be whipped up really quick, (family reunions ect.) and tastes like it took hours to produce. I don't know how she came up with this, she is really gifted in the kitchen. I am fortunate to have 4 sisters, 3 older, 1 younger, and they can all turn out some really outstanding dishes. I'll find the recipe and post it later.

From Talk

If allowed only one - Salt or Pepper - What would you choose?

Fresh ground pepper, or even processed pepper, lemon pepper ect. really adds a rich taste to a lot of dishes, but without salt it just tastes bland. MT 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted?

Cape Cod eats

I usually spend my summer in North central Massachusetts, and I remember seeing a fine dining magazine published by restaurants on the cape. Try calling the Provincetown Chamber of Commererce and see if they will send you a copy of this publication, it lists menu items, locations, seating, prices, ect. I love Massachusetts, and hope you have a great time.

From Talk

Fish, love it or hate it?

I love fish, I'm not too crazy about salmon, tuna, or mackeral, but otherwise, sign me up. I have never tried sushi, wouldn't rule it out, but as long as I can have my fish fried, baked,or broiled, I'd pass on the raw stuff. Shellfish is groovy, scallops, fried clams, New England clam chowder, shrimp, lobster, also crayfish, it's all too good to pass up.

It's snowing here! Favorite hot food to warm you up?

I live in Florida, and we don't have many really frigid days here. But when the mercury dips, a large bowl of well seasoned chili, with a side order of French bread with minced garlic, butter, and mozzarella... will usually give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

The Next Food Network Star's Lisa Garza: Love Her or Hate Her?

I think Lisa is a babe, and obviously she can cook too. So what if she can't spell, even our President, (also a Texas resident), and someone I have a great amount of respect for, occasionally has a difficult time with his vocabulary. So give the high - heeled hottie a break, and a dictionary, hey, Martha Stewart likes her! I dig you too Lisa, I hope you win! I'll keep watching, good luck Lisa, I hope I get to see you on your own Food Network Program.
