for me, it's not thanksgiving without ham. i bake mine with a mango pineapple glaze. it makes the kitchen smell so good :)

When I go home, I always ask my mom to make oxtail soup and nian gao (chinese rice cakes), among other tasty tasty things. we always ate nian gao at chinese new year, and her oxtail soup is just the tastiest stuff ever. I have fond memories of eating bowls and bowls of it.

my roommate in college always told me peanut and roast beef go really well together in a sandwich. it's actually not half bad!

like everyone else, i can't stand sandra lee. the worst thing is turning the channel to the food network and seeing her! "change the channel! change the channel!"

i spent a summer in beijing and found that almost all the food i ate was delicious! just avoid really touristy places and take a walk around. if you see lots of locals eating somewhere, that's always a good sign. but i found most of the quieter restaurants were still really tasty. my favorite dishes in beijing were actually all the eggplant dishes. they are oh so oily, but oh so soft and delicious. just as a side note, it took me a few weeks to adjust to the amount of oil the people in beijing cook with. i mean, i'm chinese and eat chinese food everyday, but never with so much oil in the U.S. my stomach wasn't so happy at first, so you might have to be prepared for that!

i love fresh fruits too, especially pineapples and oranges

canned chicken broth. i love the comfort of soup, but i don't have time to make actually make my own chicken broth. sometimes i can use it in stir-fry sauces too for some flavor.
